I liked my Victory (Kingpin) but it wasn't a Harley, that's all there is too it. I wanted a bagger and have wanted a Street Glide for a few years. The deals were out there and I jumped on one. I was excited about the Cross Country when it was announced, but then nothing, no bikes! I am not sure they even have the 10's yet besides a few Cross Roads. The lack of aftermarket killed it for me. There are just not many options to make the bike your own. Oh and if you are married and the wife rides with you and likes to accessorize, forget it! My wife could spend an entire afternoon at the HD Dealer looking at clothes ect..... I was lucky if she wanted to spend 10 min in the Vic dealer
I love my new Street Glide, while I am sure the new Cross bikes are nice, so far nothing holds a candle to the Harley. I have been OVERLY impressed with it. I know we all love power........but we did buy touring bikes! Looks go a LONG way IMO.
I ride a Harley. I laugh at people who act ignorant and say, Yeah, but its not a Harley. Duh! Thats why it does not have Harley-Davidson on the bike. Monkeys.
It is like saying a Lexus is not a BMW. They are both fine luxury machines, however.
A Victory is not going to sound like a Harley. We have this socially engrained preference for a certain kind of sound because it is supposedly cool. Because Victory is not limited by the exhaust note requirement, it can use better engine technology but still appeal to more open-minded v-twin enthusiasts. When I am working on my Road King, I shake my head every time I glance at the push rods, for instance.
Do not get me wrong. I enjoy riding my Harley. At the same time, I am not married to the brand till death do us part. I do not ride to look cool or socialize. I ride because it puts a smile on my face.
My Road King is also currently in my garage, on the jack, and undergoing winter projects and off-season maintenance, so it is not like the bike is going to be replaced any time soon.
Anyway, I really like the Cross Country and the Cross Roads. As divisive as the design of the Vision is, Victory really stepped forward with the lines of the XC and XR bikes.

Do not confuse the Cross Roads or Country with the Vision, unlike HD Victory listen to customers. A friend of mine in Alabama bought the first Cross Country , he's on the victory web site riding it away from the shop. He still has his Dyna but sold his 02 Road Glide, says it's a very impressive bike to ride. The only bad thing is i have to wait until next May to try it.

Yeah whatever - frankly I like a bike that says Harley on the tank. It actually means something to me - but you buy whatever you want to buy - it's a free country.
There is still something about the looks of the X Road and the X Country that just don't seem right to me. .....I don't exactly know what it is, but something still turns me "off" when I see them. They are MUCH better looking than that Vision "thing" though!
