Default Flip out screen stereos

Not trying to start a debate if it safe or not. To the people in here that are running something like the kenwood 514, have you ever road with them in the open position for awhile. How do they hold up with the vibration, just wondering? I know some people that have them just put screen up do there thing and close it while there driving

I don't have one but I would think vibration would be hard on a stereo system that was designed for inside of a vehicle. Don't think it would hold up very well. Just my 2cents.

dont think the hinges that hold the screen would hold up to the vibration.

Had a very expensive Kenwood flip-up with the DVD (never used it) and the GPS (used it all the time). The small controls make the stereo very difficult to use on a bike, and the vibration broke the hinges and finally killed the unit after two years. They look good in the parking lot, but are highly impractical and very expensive. Now I ride with a $50 Magellan GPS and an Ipod. They work better and cost 5% of a flip-up. Do NOT install one on a bike!
