So this could produce endless jokes, but I am at work (and don't have the manual) and need to stop by the dealership today to pick up the goodies. Replacing all fluids with Syn3 (previous owner used it as well). What else do I need to do this for an 03 RKC?
1. Syn3 - how much do I need in total, and how much for each hole?
2. Chrome Oil Filter
3. Oil plug gasket
Get a new gasket or o-ring for the primary cover. Not sure of your capacities as my scoot is an '07...
Switch to Amsoil or Mobil1! Not sure but the Syn-3 stuff is a synthetic blend and not a true synthetic oil Use the Primary chaincase stuff in the primary and gear oil in the tranny.
20-24oz in tranny.....I would run 22oz
32oz in primary
3.5qts in engine
Therefore, if you are running syn3 in all three holes you should only need 5qts of syn3 to do all three holes. You will also need two #11105 drain plug o-rings (tranny and oil) and you will need a chaincase inspection cover gasket (unless you are doing a clutch adjustment, then you would need to open the derby cover and you would need the 25416-99C, but if you are only draining and filling the primary it is easier to fill through the inspection cover). The inspection cover gasket is 34906-85D
Do Not and I will repeat DO NOT put 4 qts. in the crank case not only will you get oil comming out the A/C you will also have oil all over the right side as it will blow your dipstick out. Dont ask me how I know. Somethings I learn the hard way. lol

Harley hasn't recommended Syn 3 for the tranny and primary for some time now. Use gear oil in the tranny as per Harley's recomendation. Just because the previous owner did it wrong doesn't mean you have to.

Not arguing, but where do you see them not recommending SYN3 for all 3 holes? Im pretty sure my 09 manual calls for it.

EDIT - I'm wrong, what else is new.
Yeah my '07 Service Manual says to use only Formula +. I take that as to not use motor oil in the tranny. The Cruise Drive 6 speed needs an oil rated GL5. I use Spectro Platinum recommended by Baker. There are a lot of good gear lubes out there. Syn 3 ain't one of 'em. The older 5 Speed only requires GL1 and I suppose SYN3 will suffice but I'd at least run Harley Foprmula +, also recommended by Harley for that tranny. I have a S.E. 6er in my second bike and use Bel Ray Hypoid Gear Oil in that. Watch though, more guys will ask this question in the future, and more guys will tell them in blissful ignorance, to use Syn3 in all 3 holes and that Harley recommends it. Oh well, I shouldn't let this bother me, but it does. And THANKS for saying "I'm wrong." That shows class!"
