Default Replacing Headlamp Bulb How To?

I just got the new PIAA bulb and have a question on how to install it in the Street Glide. Took the fairing off and unplugged the bulb, but can't seem to get the stock bulb out. SHould have I accessed the headlamp from the front without removing the fairing?

Can someone give me some pointers. Thanks.

Still hav'nt got that service manual, eh Joe? You got it right with the fairing off, pull the rubber boot and spring clip, then the bulb will come out. Careful with the fairing!

How'd that PIAA bulb work out on your SG? Is it worth doing? Thanks

The PIAA GT-X Super Plasma bulb I purchased is described below… But here is my impression of the bulb:

It is noticeably brighter than the stock H4 bulb. On the low beam and high beam it shines much further, wider, and brighter. A downside of the bulb is that during the daytime it is so close to the natural light spectrum that it is hard to see. It almost looks as if the sun is reflecting off the headlight. What I do is turn the high beam on for daytime riding. The high beam is super bright and trust me…everyone will see you coming with it on!

Overall I am not sure if it is worth the almost $50 price tag. I have seen other high output bulbs (even Harley has one) for much less money. Not sure if the PIAA is that much better than those bulbs. That being said, I am happy with the PIAA bulb.

GT-X Super Plasma
• For the look of H.I.D. there is nothing closer than the GT-X Super Plasma bulbs.
• With the H4 shining at 2800 - 5000K (Kelvin color temperature) you will never sacrifice performance; with the XTRA technology these bulbs have power to spare.
• H4: GT-X Super Plasma Anti-Vibration
• Because of their unique gas mixtures, filament materials and proprietary coatings, PIAA bulbs offer far greater output than standard halogen bulbs.
• While standard halogen bulbs give off a yellowish light that's not at all similar to sunlight, PIAA's technology gives off a whiter, brighter light, enhancing visibility.
• XTRA technology allows light output to be dramatically higher than normal bulbs drawing the same wattage.

Got to watch out for those super bright bulbs. I tried one of those super brights on my Sportster and ended up melting the wires because they burn hot.

Once you have unpluged the 3 wire coupler from the back of the bulb, you will see a wire loop that holds the bulb in, one leg of it will bend to release it and it will hinge open so you can lift bulb out, replace same in reverse, CAUTION!!!! If you touch those bulbs with your fingers they will blow in a short time due to the oils in your fingerprints, if you have touched it, take a tissue and use alcohol to clean the bulb and it will be fine. Its easier to take off the headlight ring and 3 screws to get at the bulb,

The PIAA bulbs draw the same wattage as the stock bulbs so you don't need to worry about melting wiring harnesses. The other "rally" type bulbs draw double the wattage. Those are the ones you need to watch out for.
