Default Another Lowers question

Yes I've researched it but thought I'd throw the question out.
Looking at maybe putting lowers on the Streetglide but I have the HD heavy duty AC. (Funnel forward) I've read where people say it can't work but others have done it. Not overly concerned about airflow because it doesn't really draw it in from air being forced in from driving but acts as a vacuum with air around it (correct me if I'm wrong).
Don't want to change out AC but also don't want to starve bike from air if the lowers go on. Any thoughts from those in the know?

I am not sure on the fitment with your current Air Cleaner and lowers but HD does now sell and filter replacement that is a bit shorter that will work better with the lowers. I think it's .... hold on ... $100. (HD = Hundred Dollars) and you will need a new sock for the filter as well. I just bought this setup for mine with the anticipation of getting lowers very son.

Waiting for lowers for my Road Glide and I also have the heavy breather. The part # for the replacement filter is 28714-10, $89.95. The problem with the large HB filter is that they will not fit with lowers that have glove boxes, otherwise they fit fine without them. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. Does that mean that they make a shorter rainsock for the new filter?
Will this change the amount of air being drawn in?

Is that a HD part # or KN? I can't seem to find it.

It's an HD part #. Got it from the dealer. There is also a shorter rain sock for it.

I just saw a 2010 EG with lowers and a heavy breather yesterday. It was a tight fit. The breather was tilted up a few degrees to give it more room in the front. You might concider Hogg Chop lowers as an alternative. They are a bit more forward on the bike. They are a different look and are not for everyone.

the lowers will not affect the airflow into the filter for the exact reason that you stated... it's not a "ram-air" intake. the bike will draw in the amount of air it needs regardless.
I put lowers on my Street Glide this year and it was the best upgrade I've ever done. I just sold that bike and I think I'm sold on the 2010 Road Glide Custom... the lowers will be the first add-on I buy!

+1 on hogchops as an alternative. Any chance you can turn the air filter down, or 45 toward the front? I recall seeing one with lowers, however the glove box had been removed.
