Just took my wife on a 150 mile ride today - she complained of her *** being sore. I just purchased an 06 SG with the stock seat and detachable sissy bar and backrest pad to match. Can anyone recommend a good 2-up seat that will still match the backrest? Thanks.
You'll be able to see a lot of info here on the seats. A quick search will show everything from Mustang to Sundowner, etc.
I myself picked of the Sundowner for the longer runs with company and can't say enough good things about it. I've joked with others that on some long runs I never even got of the bike to stretch when getting fuel because I wasn't sore. Anybody I've had on the back has had nothing but good things to say about their comfort either.
I just looked up the Street Glide Sundowner seat on the HD site - part no 51630-06. It looks almost identical to the stock seat on my 06 SG. What exactly is the difference between the stock and sundowner seat?
If you want to save some money you can buy a used RoadGlide seat. I have a 08 StreetGlide and brought a 08 RoadGlide seat and it's much better for the passenger and rider. You can usually pickup a used RoadGlide seat for a good price from other members here.
I went with the mustang seat, solo and passenger seat. the two piece set up increases number of mounting points and to me makes the seat feel more stable. bought the 14.5 wide passenger seat and the wife loves it. we havent done a long ride with it yet cause I just got it. but I had mustang on my softail and will not buy any other seat. just my $.02
