That's odd. My local dealer told me that the brake line had to be replaced on my '07 RKC if I had a set of RK Highbars # 55954-00 installed.
That's why most of us check here before we talk to any dealer. I did the install over a year and a half ago, on my bike, and even with ABS and the new throttle I didn't have to change a thing. I've been very happy with them. For the price, it was a no brainer.

There may have been some changes between '07 and '08 models that allow you to get by without changing anything. It sure would be nice, if someone here were closer to me that could come over and help me install new handlebars.

Yeah the 08's had the abs option, and the internal throttle wiring. But the brake line didn't have much wiggle room. The difference in the stock bars and the RK High bars is the way they are bent, and how they are set up. They aren't as wide, but they are taller and the ends are bent back towards the rider. They are more of a buckhorn style. By them not being as wide, it didn't cause any of my wiring or lines to need changed. Did this make any sense to you.
If you have any mechanical ability, you can do this quite easily and in just a few hours. It's basically a matter of removing the chrome headlight nacelle, clamp cover, throttle/front brake lever and switch housing, clutch lever/grip/switch housing, handlebar clamp and then reverse the sequence.
If you have a manual, it walks you through it. If not get one and you'll be glad you did. We'd be here to help with any questions. Let me know if I can help.
