Doc's Harley Davidson puts on a yearly motorcycle only event at WIR in Kaukauna, WI which I usually go to. Most mildly modified (AC, exhaust) baggers run in the 14's some up into the 15's and some big bore bikes are in the 13's. I did see a couple of big motor 117"/121" bikes in the high 12's. I ran my pretty much stock 08 Suzuki Hayabusa last year and won the Open Street class and could run consistent 9.50's. This year I am building a 09 Road King with a Procharger that should make 150 Hp and should run 11's when dialed in.
11's on a road king? nust be them new pipes Jamie, what ya smok'n in them pipes?
I want some
Well I don't have anything with a stop watch but there is a stop sign out in the country on my way home where I have a 1/4 mile marked off. I can tell you what my last 4 motorcycles will run in this 1/4 mile.
98 Honda Valkrye Standard will run 105mph/99Valkyre Interstate will run 100mph/ 06 Yamaha Venture will run 95 mph/ 07 Harley Road King Police will run 93 mph. This is according to the speedos on these bikes and I know the jap bike speedometer read 5 mph faster than the actual speed. I know this is not what you wanted but I thought I'd throw it out there. I didn't buy the Harley for speed but I was inpressed anyway.
The only thing smokin will be the rear tire, from 10lbs of Procharger boost and a few "extras"
Ozark HarleyDavidson in Lebonon, Missouri has a RoadGlide for sale that has the Procharger set up on it. It a street bike and they are running 6lbs of boost. The bike belongs to the owners son. And as you can imagine it is one gorgeous bike with every thing chrome, powdercoated, and custom paint.
$34,000 will take it out the door. Way out of my price range, but fun to look at.
That Procharger is one clean looking set-up.
It sounds like you are in for a real fun ride...Keep us posted when you finally get to turn the grip and hang on. Your eyes should look like this
Not sure of my 1/4 mile times.....but I do know its a leisurely
4 hour ride ( 210 miles ) to the Muddy River Smokehouse in Portsmouth, NH.
1 hour to eat, burp, and fart ......then its another 4 hours of
leisurely riding to get back home.
( could be done faster on the interstate, but why bother ?? )
Man I jumped in to take a look at the times and the only thing here is jokes. C'mon anybody got a real answer.
irony is all around this site. most folks tryin to build a "hot rod" bagger with bigger dyno numbers than the other guy and then actin' like its stupid to ask if anyone has ever actually tested thier build
Chuck Hawks' web site tested a stock Dyna Wide Glide back in 1999 and reported "quarter mile times in the upper 13 second range, at around 95-96 MPH" http://www.chuckhawks.com/wide_glide.htm
Don't know if the site has any info on touring models' times... someone else can look.
I dont hit her in 1st, I am worried about the belt, so I short shift into second at 4000 and then hit her hard in second. 6250 is the limiter and I tagged it a few times.
With a hard 1st gear launch that 60 foot time could really plummet. Nearly as fast as my drivetrain life would plummet!!
Since then I have fitted a shift light and it makes avioding the limiter a peice of cake. I wish I just got the light instead of spending money on the speedo/tacho which is useless when you are riding hard.
As I said b4, cant wait to get back to the strip and get that 11....
