Klock Werks WFB Slip On Review
So UPS delivers them. I run to the garage for the install. These are the 4" Chrome WFB's with Chrome End Caps. You can get them (end caps and slip ons in black as well and mix end caps...i.e. chrome end caps on black mufflers, or whatever you like)
First thing you notice is how they are packed. This is not a pair of mufflers with plastic and a thin bag of foam over them packed in newspaper. They do have the plastic and foam, but they are packed in form fitted high density 3M foam casing...and I don't mean just the ends...the entire set is encased. Boxed individually were the chrome end caps and you also get a new set of muffler clamps included. (Never seen that one before). They are even protected by rigid plastic end caps over the rear of the exhaust.
The chrome on these was immaculate. Installation is fairly routine except the setup under the saddle bag supports is a bit different. You don't use the original bolts, instead they have an adjustable setup with carriage bolts, spacers and a locking nut that bolt into the existing mounts.
Mounting the end caps was easy...couple of small allen headed bolts that are underneath the exhaust so that the top looks clean. A little blue loctite is suggested, so should you order these you might want to have that on hand.
Cleaned them up with windex to get all the fingerprints off. Now to start the bike. These have a really deep, low toned, throaty rumble when starting and idling. I was really impressed for being brand new how good these sounded.
So it's dark..it's cold...but do we care? Nope. Went for a ride...you definitely will hear these if you get on the throttle or let the engine decel the bike. However out on the highway...running at 3000 rpm all you really hear is enough to remind you that you are on an HD...but anything but obnoxious. To me...best of both worlds...you can light them up and you don't get a higher pitched cracking...it remains a low loud throaty type sound...or you can cruise and not worry about being totally obnoxious.
I just had a stage 1 done...but no popping...no backfiring even when running up to 4 grand in first and letting the throttle go...not a peep of anything but a nice throaty growl.
I will be interested in how they will sound after I have a couple of thousand on them...but I was impressed right out of the box.
There is a video of the sound of these on You Tube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPURz2watJA
But to be honest the video sounds quite a bit higher pitched than they sounded on my bike...it might be a recording thing.
I would highly recommend these!
