$300 won't get you much.. I recommend a 2 channel arc amp a set of 6 1/2" speakers with adapters and you will be rockin no problem hearing it from stock to that you can't even compare! Prolly gonna run ya about $700 though but well worth every penny imo..
Good info everyone. The J&M's sound like a decent speaker setup. Any problems with getting this now and amping later? I suppose I could also go with the Hogtunes and amp later with their kit or any amp for that matter. At least speakers will get me halfway there and who knows, I may be happy.
Anyway again, thank you all for the great advice!!
Try the Biketronics 6 1/2 inch Titan Speakers with their 75 watt amp. That combo is more in a "reasonable" price range. That's what I run and can hear the audio pretty good at hiway speeds. I have D&D Boss 2 into 1 exhaust and they are very, very loud. Windshield is the Klockworks 6 1/2 inch. No buffeting.
I also have the tramsparent vent louvers on the lower edge of the fairing and they do a good job of reducing wind coming up around under the fairing.
I had a Harley Salesman telling me that the NEW HD speakers are comparable to the competition's speakers. He suggested I go back and listen to a pair on a SG. He claims that they are 25% louder at the same setting as the stock ones. I think they were $75 a pair, sounded too cheap to me.

I woud research the amps and the spec's on them, nothing wrong with hogtunes, I have one, but if you look at the specs, there are amps out there that put out more power and not much more expensive.
09 SG with a 7" half moon shield with the side extensions, Hog Tune Speakers and Tweeter Pod. I only use satellite radio or an I-Pod. The volume is great and the vocals are clear without an amp. I think the extensions on the windshield are a big factor. I thought about an amp but I'm very happy with the sound now and think an amp would be overkill for me.
