I've got the Hogtunes front and rear in my 2009 Ultra they sound great but still not loud enough, just ordered the 4 channel 160 watt amp from Hogtunes should get it in a couple of days, then I'll see if its loud enough. A good amp will only help in hearing the music.
I did the amp upgrade and while as a previous poster stated a motorcycle sound system will not sounds as good your home system, mine sounds pretty good. I can hear my music clearly @ 75 mph with a 6.5" screen on my FLHX. My total system install was $285.00.
the best thing that I enjoy the most is cranking up the volume. the stock speakers where made for AM radio in my op. J&M 7.25" did the trick with the stock unit in my bike. I crank it way up and no longer have to put up with distortion.
IMO its hard to beat Hawg Wired. I have put their systems in both of my bikes and the quality is awesome. Very little distortion at max volume levels as compared to less expensive systems. Worth every penny IF "quality" of sound is as important as "quantity" of sound.
