Default Dont make the same mistake i made...

I add the intercom and a year later (now) decided i want the CB too.
To add the CB I have to buy all the handlebar controls again because Harley doesn't sell just the parts I need to upgrade from existing Intercom to full CB capabilities.
I see my options are:
1. Buy what I dont need and try to sell it here/ebay
2. Look at aftermarket CB options - but that makes no sense
3. Forget about it and just be pissed for the rest of my HD ownership
4. By a new bike!!!

Just beware, once you start down the intercom/CB path, make sure your understand your final destination.

What model/year is your bike? Take a look at this kit and the service parts list at the end of the installation instructions to see what you don't already have on your bike; you can buy what you don't have already:

Why resurrect a nearly one year old thread?

Cause people don't know or like to use the SEARCH button at the top of the forum. Been seeing alot of REALLY good informative threads getting buried because of posts like this.

I bought my 2006 Ultra, used, from a dealer and it didn't come with any headsets for the intercom system. Harley wants about $150 for each headset. Then I came across a nice little adapter on ebay that plugs in to the factory HD intercom port and provides you with 2 stereo ports to use a headset of your choice. The maker of the adapter recommended the .Audio 480 in the ear computer headset to use with the adapter so I can use the intercom system. $25 bucks for the adapter, $2.50 shipping, and I found that exact .Audio headset online thru Cost Central, for $5.41 each with free shipping! I ordered everything on Wednesday, and I can't wait to try them out! For $33, it's worth a shot! Of course if it does work, I'll have to order another set for the rear for the wife to have a set!

Here is a link to that adapter, this one comes with the headset.....for $50 plus shipping. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Earbu...item19c0ce9bd0

For those that don't have a factory intercom, ebay has quite a few aftermarket units available. Helmet to helmet or bike to bike, depending on what you are looking for. It seems to be a less expensive option than converting over to a factory system.

Like what??? I ask the question about resurrecting a year old thread AFTER I supplied useful information in the link for the guy who complained about the cost of adding CB.

Granted, some folks don't like/use the search function so those that don't run the risk of missing out at later supplied information in other threads that may be more complete or refer to newer products that weren't availble a year ago.

Probably not!

Check out HarleyPingman's thread on his install he has all of the parts listed, and retail they come to about that price, and then add in a little labor. If I could stop buying other things, I would order the parts and do mine...but

I installed the CB to my RG and SG using Pingmans's Thread. Very helpful!
It cost around 800 bucks per bike and 3 hours work getting everything right.
I guess I'm missing like one harness and a Flash to make the intercom work. I'll never use it though. She has her own bike!

If intercom is all you need I would save the bucks and just get the Scala units. They work well and are much cheaper. You can use them on any bike too...
