i hope i don't mess up the dyno tune.

If you have the calibration file the tuner used, you should be able to change any of the variables (primary ratio, speed calibration) without messing up the tune on the engine. If you don't have the last file the tuner loaded, you will not (to the best of my knowledge) be able to change anything without loading a new calibration, thus altering the tune.

Doesn't Baker include a cal unit with the DD7? Or are you just not wanting to cut/splice the wires?

I understand that. That's the only thing that sucks about the TTS is you can't retrieve and edit the calibration stored in the ECM. You can back it up and restore it, but you can't edit. Maybe hogdoc knows a way, but I haven't been able to figure it out yet. Good luck.

i'm installing the tts software now. so without the hard copy of the tune file, i shouldn't attempt to do the speedo recal??

I would say not to. You can do a backup of the file that is currently loaded, but I don't think there is any way to edit any parameters of the file without actually having the file that was used to tune with. The software would prompt you to pick a new base calibration file and go from there. When you loaded your speedo fix, it would overwrite the current file and you would lose your tune data.

You might send a PM to hogdoc and see if he knows any way around that. Otherwise, you could call TTS on Monday and see if they can help you out. Like I said, only way I know of is to have the actual final calibration file the tuner loaded to the ECM.

The DD7 is a nice addition to the 07-08 touring bikes. They have a 2.79 final gearing and it is just too tall when loaded tow up, with gear and trying to take off on an incline, or manuever tight switchback on a mountain grade. It gives you a much lower first gear, evens out the spacing between the rest of the gears and retains the stock top gear rpms. You will loose the 6th gear light, but cruise will work fine if you have the VSS calibrated correctly, either through the adapter that comes with the kit or through a tuner like the TTS. I would not recommend the DD7 for the 09-10 bikes as they have undergone a gearing change and due to that, if you went with the DD7, you will have a creeper first gear. I put about 20k miles on the bike with the DD7 and it shifted smooth, no issues what-so-ever.

i have an 09 street glide that i put the dd7 in. 1st seems to be like a bulldog gear. overall i'm pretty happy with the dd7. it's not something that i would like to drag race with. to many gears to change.

the dd7 is behind a 117 built by cycle rama.

First gear on an '09 with a DD7 still won't be as low as a 5-speed bike with 3.37 primary. My bdyy just installed the 7 this weekend on a '10 RK.Shifts are super smooth, i can imagine what it'll feel like after a 1000 miles. The ratios are just right.

You are right on the money, 1st gear with a DD7 is about a 3.15 primary change on a 6 speed but a big improvement over 2.79 stock or 2.97 ratio for a 49 tooth clutch primary gear swap. To get 3.17 using a 6 speed, 1 way is to use a 49 rear primary and a 30 tooth trans pulley, to get 3.35 you must add the 70 tooth rear wheel pulley to the mix also. If I had the coin a DD7 would be in my bike right now! All the benefits of a higher final ratio and a 7th gear that acts the same as the stock 6th cruising.
