Thanks Twinrider, thats the info i was looking for.
I was going to buy the vest and bought the jacket simply because it has the wires for the gloves PREWIRED and at the sleeves. Keeps from having to run the wires in and around your shoulders and back.
I have Gerbings and love them. The wires are a PITA but when your riding decent distances and not short stops they are fine. I have used the first gear and they are ok but compared to the Gerbings they have very poor and little heating elements. Seems like there is a ton of cold spots. There is a night and day difference between them. Now I understand there is an even better technology-no wire heating elements!! They use a fabric that conducts the electricity. I think I'm gonna try them :
hey man, pm me if you have any questions because Tilleys in Statesville carries a full line of the Gerbing gear as well as Tilleys in Salsbury. I have the jacket liner and G3 gloves and rode 100 miles leaving the station in 25 degrees and ended my ride at 38 degrees. i live in the charlotte area and can help you with any questions. yes they work and less than HD brand that are Gerbing anyway. Hook straight to battery like Battery Tender and your good to go. I got the dual temp controller because you will need to lower the heat on the jacket compared to keeping your gloves hotter. If just gloves, get the on off switch so if you leave for your ride in cold weather and it gets warmer outside, you can turn them off if you need. Switch is $15 dollars compared to single heat controller ($70.00). You wont regret the purchase, bought my dad a pair and we both have the problem of hands getting cold and numb and ending our ride to early. Side note, it seems like when your hands are warm, you dont feel as cold all over.
I got these for X-mass. They are battery powered and will last for like 2 hours at the 135 Deg High setting and 10 hours at the low 85 deg setting. yes they are made by Gerbing also. This link was given to me by gerbing as they were back ordered but this distributer has them in stock. $169.95 complete with battieries and charger for the lithiam ion batteries. http://www.herringtoncatalog.com/cs215.html
