Default Garmin 660

Just installed the Garmin Zumo 660. Ran wires under tank consol.Should i hook the wires right to the battery or to an acc.power?Wondering where you hooked into? And where to put the Mic. and earphone jacks. It's on a 2010 R.G.

I did the same, running the harness under the tank console. Ran mine to the auxiliary power supply (just ahead of the battery) and used the auxiliary cigarette lighter cable to plug into the aux. Just set the lighter socket aside for a future project.

I buried the mic jack inside the fairing, ran the earphone output to the other side on the handlebar and attached with zip tie. Can plug in a short cord from that to the input on radio face.

So the power supply from the 660 you hooked into the power supply for the cigarette lighter? Sorry for not understanding.

Ran my Zumo 550 power wire directly from the battery, inside the wire trough.
Ran both +/- wires from the battery.
Advance Auto sells 8' length's of shrink wrap, ran both wires through the shrink wrap.
Soldered a mini-fuse holder on the + wire, connected to the battery.

Might be more trouble than needed, but I'm all about cleanliness.

I just attached mine directly to the battery. That way the unit doesn't shut off everytime I stop for gas. That to me is a pain.

The 660 comes with a motorcycle wiring harness fuse already attached. Thanks for the reply I will connect to the battery.

So does the 550.
I think that ultra-skinny positive lead wire is a broken wire waiting to happen.
Not only that...I ran my wire to a Power Point.
Didn't want to cut the harness supplied with the Zumo.

No, sorry for not being more clear. I bought the Harley accessory lighter kit and plugged that into the auxiliary plug (under the seat, right in front of the battery). I pulled the lighter socket off, and saved it for a future project. Then I put spade connectors on the Zumo wiring harness and just plugged that into the connectors on the harness from the auxiliary lighter.
