So does the 550.
I think that ultra-skinny positive lead wire is a broken wire waiting to happen.
Not only that...I ran my wire to a Power Point.
Didn't want to cut the harness supplied with the Zumo.
BadPiggy you just extened the hot lead on the 550?

I ran 12g. wires, black & red, inside shrink wrap, together.
I soldered a mini-spade fuse holder on the red wire, connected both to the battery.
Ran these in the wire trough under the tank.
Drilled a hole in the side of the fairing cap on my Road Glide.
Connected the wires to this: http://www.powerletproducts.com/prod...let-socket/280
I purchased the shorter 12" Zumo wire to plug into the Powerlet: http://www.powerletproducts.com/prod...rlet-cable/265
I just attached mine directly to the battery. That way the unit doesn't shut off everytime I stop for gas. That to me is a pain.
Just an fyi, if you install with a powered switch, the unit will ask you if you want it to stay on or switch off (default on 20 second timer). I ran power from the spare lead off of the headlight (no intentions of running additional lights) as demonstrated in the instructions.
To the OP either way works, solder the connections and install a fuse.

Now I understand what you did.On the 660 the docking station (mount) is hard wired. So i will run from the 660 right to the battery and zip tie the mic and ear phone jack to the bars close to the raido.I like your setup, you can remove everything just by unplugging.
