Mine was doing the same thing. I installed some rubber door guard over the bracket.

Might as well put some good speakers in while I'm in there, and dig out all of the old well nuts.

It's worth the time now to modify the bracket before major wear takes place, like mine.
When I first saw the slots(worn areas) a while back ago,I thought they were some type of guide. The plastic dust did make me wonder.
Didnt take long to wear thru!

Man, I know a lot of guys with Road Glides and like I said, I had an 06 and now this 09 and this is the first time I heard of such a thing. There are a lot of Road Glides on the road and nobody else discovered this. I guess you have to change the windshield to see where it is rubbing through. Thanks!

The SW said he was unaware of the problem.

I guess most just ride the thing and dont tinker!

Shitty design by MOCO.

Another thing MOCO could improve, would be to put stainless thread inserts in the outer fairing.

What are they now? I'll be afraid to overtighten them.

Had the fairing off to install new speakers last week. Had the same issue. The bracket rubbed two spots about 1/4" deep. Mounted some plastic guards (about 3/4" wide) on top of the brackets and put it all back together. Hope that stops it. Didn't have the problem on the 03.
