I had the same problem with my outer fairing rubbing against the radio bracket. I found that if I aligned the bracket and inner fairing correctly the bracket wouldn't rub on the fairing anymore.
If you look right behind the speedo/tach nacelle you'll see two 3/8" or so holes in the inner fairing that probably aren't being used. There are two holes in the radio bracket inside the fairing that must line up perfectly with these two holes in the inner fairing.
The main fairing to frame bracket has four threaded posts in it that go through the inner fairing and then through the radio bracket and are held tight with four nuts. The fairing holes are slotted which allows the fairing to slide up and down for alignment. If you loosen up the four nuts and slide the fairing so that the two previously mentioned upper holes line up and then retighten the four nuts the fairing and radio bracket will be aligned correctly and the radio bracket will probably no longer interfere with the fairing.
What I did was to buy two chrome screws and lock nuts at OSH so I could permanently attach the radio bracket and fairing in the proper position. No more problems

I just looked at mine and those two holes you mention have two push in plastic bolts in them lining everything up, so there really isnt much room for adjustment. I'll try to loosen up the four bolts and move the inner fairing down a little bit. I see what you mean, that bracket is slotted.

Hmmm... are you sure you want to move it down? Just thinking about it makes me think you would want to move the fairing up relative to the radio bracket in order to give it some clearance. Mine isn't apart so I'm just trying to picture it as I remember it looking.
I have an '01 glide. It seems everyone talking about this issue has a newer bike. Is this only an issue for the newer bikes or should I check mine out too?
After looking at it, no matter where you move the bracket, up or down, the outer fairing has to move with it because it rests on the hooks that are part of the whole bracket assembly.

Good Luck with the fairing. Mine was almost as much worn and I fixed it with plastic.
