Default Mysterious Oil Spot

I took my Street Glide off the jack today and there was some oil on the jack pad. Looking under the bike there is no oil anywhere on the engine. However, the clutch cable is soaked. There is a sleeve over the cable, kind of like the chinese finger trap, that is drenched. is it possable the o ring on the cable is leaking? Has anyone seen this? Thanks!

Look in your service manual and see if there is an o ring that could need replacing. If it were me and it didn't drip on the ground I wouldn't worry about it. Could be just oil weeping and building up over time.

there is an o-ring. to replace it you will have to remove the fairing, disconnect the cable at the lever, open up the trans, spin out, r+r o-ring and reassemble. A lot of work for that but I can get a little ****. About an hour job.

Or just re-torque the fitting where it goes in the tranny - worked for me. Do not over-torque that fitting..........Or oil spill from your last filter change ran down the cable.

I never thought of that. I have the pipes off right now so I am going to change the o ring anyway. On my softail I was able to remove the trans cover and just spin in off the cable, if this works it will save me from removing the fairing and completely removing the cable. Thanks guys!

Actually you can hold the cable and unscrew the cover with some slack and the cable unhooked in the cover. You need a good pair of internal snap ring pliers
