In my own experience, scratched chrome is scratched chrome. I would be interested in finding out if there was anything also.

Scratched chrome is scratched for good. Steel wool just puts little scratches in the finish.

True. The finer the wool, the finer the new scratches. Gets all hazey eventually.
Live with the scratch, put a funny sticker over the scratch, or if you are **** like me - replace the part. No other option.
Maybe trade with a guy who is powder coating his?

I was takin' some pics at that same spot last August. (Rushmore in the background, right?)

0000 Steel Wool and a good chrome polish works wonders. Use plenty of polish and don't let the steel wool go dry on ya.

I have an exhaust heat shield at the chromer right now because I used 0000 steel wool. It was an improvement over the crud that couldn't be removed by any other means, but now that it's cold it's getting fixed.

They might work wonders but they won't remove scratches on chrome. Once it's scratched, nothing can fix it.
