http://www.milwaukeebagger.com/Tour_Packs_s/36.htm has anyone had any experience with these mounts ? they use the same points of attachement as the stock back rest. iam adding a Bad Dad fender cover to my bike and dont really want to put the H.D. big hoops thru my fender. seems like they might not be as stable do to the longer leverage? any other options ?
I have the Milwaukee Bagger detachable mount. I get a little vibration going down the road with the tour pak, but all in all its a good mount, and feels stable. Its a much cleaner look than the Harley mount.
mslater, I have the rack in the link and recently mounted the HD Ultra tour pak and did a 100 mile New Year's Day ride with it on the bike. I'm going to take some pics and write a quick review of it later today.
For present purposes to answer your questions: (1) it's a fine piece; (2)chrome is excellent; (3) no drilling is necessary as the holes in the rack match up with the holes in the TP and there are three sets allowing some fore and aft adjustment to go with the two sets in the tour pak); (4) it fits perfectly with the HD forward mounting hardware used for the HD passenger backrest and HD solo detachable rack; (5) it uses HD latch hardware for a secure installation; and, (6) Nick Tritti, MB owner, has been very helpful.
I had previously purchased and installed the earlier version of the MB two-up detachable rack that used the forward mounting points. I believe ddwyer has this earlier version. It, too, is a good piece, but the HD latches on the newer version is an improvement I wanted so I purchased the new version and sold the earlier version on Ebay.
Bottom line, the current version is an excellent item.

I am adding a chopped pack to my bike this winter and will be getting this mount. I don't like the "hoops" on the HD mount, even though the SG rear fascia has the holes for it. I was also thinking of getting the FMJ mount bushings from Gilbo(member on this forum) to tighten up the connection. I look forward to Harleypingmans write up...

so the differance in the early version vs. the late version is it uses the h.d. locks ??
I have the MB tour pak rack on both my chopped and king tour paks and it is a very nice easy to use piece. And as everyone else said, it looks much better and cleaner than the stock HD version. I actually put them on all bikes now that i remove a tour pak or add one to it. All and all you'll be very happy with it but it does work better with the solid mounts as compared to the rubber ones.
I started a thread on the installation of the current version of the MB rack and included the link to the earlier thread I did when I installed the previousl version of the MB rack.
mslater, you probably mean "rack" not "mounts;" MB offers a rack, not mounting hardware. I knew what you meant as did the others who replied; but others may not have known what you meant.
