My new pc3 runs my 08 FLHTCU well except for warm idle, the fuel bar goes from lean to near mid rich in a "blip", backfires out the aircleaner and quits. The pc3 then shows an error code 39.
I've checked the connections, bent (adjusted) the grounding pin, set the closed throttle position, reset the pc3, reloaded the map, added 5 fuel at a 1000 rpms.
The only improvement gained throughout the troubleshooting process is since I set the closed throttle position she'll idle for about 3-4 minutes warm before stalling, prior it would only run idle 1-2 minutes warm before stalling.
So I checked for codes and sure enough I have P0373, P0374, both are crank position sensor related and a C1095(abs I think).
Since the PC3usb device error 39 is a CKPS error I think I am getting somewhere. I am really puzzled as to how my 08FLHTCU with 1400 miles has a bad CKPS already.
Only other thing I can think of was that I had the 1000-1500 idle problem new and had to use the ignition method to reset it, they never reflashed the ECM for it.
So if you guys agree I gather the next step would be a new CKPS from HD and have them flash the ECM??
Did you possibly damage your crank sensor with a filter wrench?
Mark
Thanks Mark,
Not me, haven't been down there, HD did the 1K. I did the stage 1, pipes, and pc3.
What really has me puzzled is the bike idles fine on the stock ecm. I just don't see how the stock ecm could handle CKPS errors without even a hiccup and with the pc3 on she stalls at warm idle every time.
I suspect this is a pc3 issue only.
Needless to say after 6 weeks of jacking around with this, but I will, I AM FREAKING PISSED!!!
No I didn't, got it from a HD shop. The first pc3 was bad from the box, wouldn't fire, dyno tested it, said it was bad and sent me a new one. It fired the bike but had the same warm idle problem I have now. DYNO told me it was a CKPS low voltage at the pc3, said send it back and cross shipped the 3rd PC3.
DYNO bench tested the 2nd PC3 found no errors and said it ran 2 of their bikes fine.
You know the trouble I am having now is the same as the 2nd, so I keep driving on to find the SOLUTION!
Spoke with DYNO and Jamie at FM, both were very nice but could only suggest the grounding pin needs to be bent(adjusted).
I didn't know about the forum or fuelmoto until I started this endeavor over Thanksgiving and had the trouble with the first PC3.
I've found several PC3 error 39 threads here but only ONE which offered a solution/resolution to the problem......frustrating.....anyhow the steps discussed in that ONE thread didn't help me or my ride.
I digress, so I am simply trying to appeal to the other 50 guys that had this device error 39 warm idle stall problem on an 08FL, or the guys that fixed this for someone else to see how they succeeded.
So if you guys agree I gather the next step would be a new CKPS from HD and have them flash the ECM??
I'd consider that. The sensor signal is weak to begin with, and adding the PC in series ain't gonna strengthen it any (may slightly weaken it more). I'd do the flash, reset your bike idle (like you did before), and check you PC zero throt position right after resetting your bike throttle. If all that fails, a PC might not be in the cards for you.
I never did like the concept of FBW. I know soooooo many who have had headaches with it.
I've had wonderful luck with them on my last two bikes.
I have a sert now for other reasons, but I did like the PC's when I had them.
I wouldn't give up on yours until I tried the flash and possibly the sensor.
I'm assuming you already did everything you could do with the connections.
