The allen head bolt behind the clutch cable holds the exhaust bracket. The bracket does not bolt to the ehaust but uses a long hangar. This is why I may need to totally remove the exhaust. Was hoping I could remove the bracket and be able to wiggle enough room to get the cover off.

Drop the one side of the dual exhaust. Pull the tranny side cover. Change cable. You will need one exhaust gasket and one side cover gasket. It is easier to use the proper sized snap ring pliers for the ring securing the ball and ramp assembly, but I have used needlenose pliers. It would also be a good time to throw in the 06 and later ball and ramp assembly that eases the clutch pull.
Thanks for the info. I ordered the easy pull clutch from Harley with the clutch cable and tranny gasket.

Once you get it broke loose you can finish removing it with your fingers. The only thing is you can't do a proper torque when you reinstall them though so be careful to not over tighten them.
