I tell you what. I took mine off one day and rode around. Surprisingly enough I got decent reception without it. I usually play cd's and am looking got upgrade my stereo to one with an ipod adapter. They have some cool shorty's on ebay and even some that are retractable. I still haven't put anything back on.

Bought this shorty antenna off of ebay. Not sure how good it is as I mainly listen to the CD player with mp3's.

I replaced the stock antenna with the touring antenna Part Number 76388-08, Shorty AM/FM Antenna. Fits '98 - Later Touring Models Equipped with Radio. It is 19" long which is about half the length of the original.

It now is out of the way and I don't see any performance difference. The tall one bugged me too.

Check out J&M audio. Have them on mine and they work well.

If anyone has an extra stock whip antenna sitting around, I'm in the market. :-)

Thanks!

I've got a 2010 sg and I've tried a couple of different ones and couldn't get good reception. Back to the stock one.

Go to the Stealer and get the hidden antenna, fits inside the fairing on top of the fairing. Works great for 50 bucks.
