Default Rinehart slip ons for tourer?

I'm looking at replacing my old SE IIs with a set of Rinehart slip ons. I have stage I, SE 255 cams and SERT.

Do you think I'll be able to get some more performance with the Rineharts? Jamie at Fuel Moto felt I could get another 4-5 TQ and HP with his Jackpots.

What kind of sound do the Rineharts have (can't listen to any... too damm cold up here... -17 tomorrow morning!). I've done searches and comments are mostly that they have a deep rumble, but one said they were tinney compared to the Jackpots. Also, I know they will be louder than the Jackpots, but probably no louder than my SE IIs which, with the cams are still ok... but would not want to get anything louder.

Thanks

A lot of people like the the sound, personally, I don't. Go to Youtube.com and search: harley rinehart. I like loud pipes myself and love my Rush W/2" baffles on my 02 RKC.

Sound is subjective and no one can describe it and the youtube videos are crap. You must listen to a bike with the setup your looking for to see if you will like it. I had the 2.0 rush on my 08UC and did not like them. Empty can sound to me. I have the Rinehart true duals now and I'm extremely happy with the sound and performance. I listened to a bunch of pipes before i made my decision.

I have Rinehart true duals on my '06 EGC and like the sound. They're reasonably quiet when riding down the highway and getting louder when you crack open the throttle.

I rode my bike with stock pipes for about 4 months before changing exhaust. I wanted to hear other pipes before deciding what to buy.

Installed the Rinehart slip-on's - expectations were exceeded both in looks and sound.

They sound great when at idle, loud, deep, but not obnoxious. Sound increases with normal throttle and they jump if you get on it! I went through the same debate you are and was lucky the dealer had a 08' trade with them installed so I could hear them - sealed the deal. Also was able to listen to a new set being installed on a 09’ Ultra. Suggest seeing if any of your local dealers have any bikes with the pipes installed in their shop or on the floor.

As an FYI - the dealer recommended on my 09' staying with the slip-on's versus the true duals - felt the original system was run great and slip-on’s were all that was needed - imagine a dealer saving you a few bucks.

Good luck and let us know what you do.

Thanks for the responses. Have listened to several sound bites of several types of pipes. Most sound pretty good. Also found some You Tube sound bites of the old SE IIs. My wife told me that she likes the sound of my current set. Also, I doubt that I'd get that much gain in performance over my current pipes.

I've decided that mine sound good and my low end torque is good at 97 ft/lbs (doubt I'd feel much difference if it went to 100). So I won't be upgrading at this time.

Thanks again for your reponses.

Default Got them

Well, my handle bar change will cost less since I was able to use my existing brake lines. Soooo, got a pair of take offs from a fellow Forum member (hog-doc). Got them in the mail today. They are in great shape... nice a black on the tips and have 1500 miles on them. My bike is still at the dealers, so going over Monday to replace them (warmer in the HD shop than my garage). Maybe will get to fire them up.

Don't know which I'm more excited about... the new Rineharts or the Sweepers +2 bars. I'm so fortunate... a great wife/riding partner who is still working, retired and with a few bucks coming in from my pension and starting SS next month. Oh, downside - can't ride in the winter in MN.

btw, thanks hog-doc for the bars and Dawg for the guidance on the bars.
