I have a vibration that started in the seat and moved to floorboards now its going all the way to the bars. dealer has replaced bearings in wheels and installed new comp sprocket. Any one else having issues I think its a bad rear motor mount any ideas.?
We bought a 09 FLHX and the dealer switched the tires and rims as the color we wanted had the lace wheel and we wanted the Aluminum rim. The bike vibrated in the bars and floor boards and I have a 09 Ultra so you could really feel the difference.
We did find that they over tightened the drive belt which by loosening it took care of 50% of the problem but it did not make it smooth like my Ultra so once the snow is gone, it is going back to the purchasing dealer. NOTE: The dealer we usually go to did not have any 09 FLHX models left so he was kind enough to print a list of what was left and we bought from a different dealer. I'm not real confident of the mechanical work done by the dealer we purchased from but I want them to correct the problem since they made the money on the sale of the bike.
I know there were posts in the fall about this problem with the FLHX and different problems were found on various bikes. I think ours is going to be a result of the tire and rim switch and just needs to be set up better.
I had a vibration in mine as well and couldn't really tell whether it was from the engine or the running gear. I ended up getting the bike up to 80 mph on a freeway with little traffic and then killed the engine and pulled the clutch in so I could coast. Sure enough the vibration continued which turned out to be coming from one of the tires which was replaced. If it had been from the engine the vibration would have stopped. If you do this just be careful and remember to fire the engine up before you let the clutch out.
I came across this thread while searching for seat info and thought I would chime in. I own a 2009 FLHX and have had two issues with vibration that the dealer took care of under warranty. The first was a badly warped front rotor which no one can explain (The bike had less than 5000 miles at the time). The second was a badly cupped wear pattern on the front tire. I wrote this off as having been caused by the front rotor, but when I took the bike in for its 10,000 mile service my service advisor said that HD had a tech bullentin out on the front tires and said that they could replace for 1/2 price.
