Question SE Compensator

Has anybody had this put on their bike and DID NOT like the addition of the SE compensator?

Please post. I know there is alot of happy customers, but I want to hear from the dissatisfied for whatever reason.

It supposed to be a rainy weekend and I'll be looking for something to do with the boredom.

I was just about to take my primary cover off today when I read THIS thread where some users reported an increase in vibrations/noise with the addition of the SE compensator. I have ZERO problems with the stock comp, but I like to wrench on my scoot so this would fit the bill nicely.

LMAO!!!

I had the Primary drained, floorboards and shifter levers off, done PM'd Dalton on making the primary chain tool and sat down to drink a Coke getting ready to unbolt the primary cover, started reading that thread and didn't like what a few were reporting. Yikes!

Seems the spacer springs have too big of an I.D leaving a space between them and the shaft that can get to wallowing with RPM's causing a vibration.

Just proceeding with caution before I make a mess of a good situation.

I hadn't heard about the "wallowing." Could you provide a message number in the referenced thread that describes it? Was there more than one report? I was following that thread for a while until it fizzled and don't recall reading this. I probably haven't had mine >5k RPM since the install and haven't noticed any vibration at that level or below.

Like you, I had no trouble with the stock comp except the starter clunk, and only installed the SE comp because the primary was apart and the opportunity was staring me in the face. Dawg's photo was representative of my situation, actually. Since the dealer had it in stock with most dealers being back-ordered at the time to me was a clear sign from God that I needed to buy it.

Thanks Bob for the input.

Reading the thread, Redrazor begins reporting a strange sound HERE in post #102.

Then member 1947 Knuckle begins HERE and apparently this guy is a machinist and begins speaking of "tolerances" being too much between the spacers and shaft in post #129.

Then Dalton refers to an increase in vibration and takes his off HERE in post #194.

Alot of satisfied customers throughout the thread but I pay attention to all feedback therefore wanted to lay this out for more feedback for those that may be lurking that don't usually post.

I was following that thread a while back. I'm too beat right now to search for your particular posts.

However,...... There was something involved with how he installed it? I know for a fact that if you don't clearance your inner primary (at least on a B motor), it ain't going in without beating on it. That in itself can damage something (shaft).

There was some babble about it being heavier on one side, remove and replace the other way,.... blah, blah,..... I threw mine on and lived happily ever after.

I don't recall the specifics of what I read, but there were some clues there that set me at ease in going ahead with my order. (I bought my SE after reading that thread).

Yeah, I'm one of the happy campers. Just relax! Proceed with your install.

That compensator should have come stock on your bike. No joke!

Okay,... LOL I read one of them that took some miles to be better.

Take yours out of the box and look at the ramps.
The casting is not as smooth as you'd expect. It's rough.

Now imagine what happens after some miles,.... to that "roughness".
(It will smooth out). YES they get better after the initial install.

Just relax! Proceed with your install.

(Kudos to you for doing more research).
