Wow, haven't seen one post listing their job as outlaw biker. The general public still is of that mind set about us. This thread goes a long way disproving that, but it really only matters to us, the riders. tp
Many segments of our society suffer an image problem because so many want to look like the "thugs" among them. The average cager doesn't know the difference between a (insert any real job posted here) wearing a dealership purchased leather HD jacket with HOG patches all over it, and a 1%er in a leather jacket/vest with a full member patch and all the obscene saying patches and stickers they put on themselves. All they see is guy wearing leather on a loud HD, and you get lumped in with generic "bikers," whatever that means.
In some cases, and I know some like this, they go out of their way to closely resemble a 1%er when they ride...refer back to my first sentence.
To anyone who wants to look like a thug (not just those who ride)...don't get upset if you get confused for one on occasion.
I guess, image-wise, it's a matter of degrees too. I mean I wear a leather jacket and chaps when it's cold, and a dew rag under my helmet. I don't put any obscene patches or stickers on anything, and in fact, I have no "patches" at all. That just my choice.
I was an aluminum construction contractor for 28 years, got hurt, went back to school and became a computer analyst for the last 15, got outsourced to india so I retired.

So...let me get this straight...to you....if someone is a 1%er...they all have obscene patches and look like thugs???
Good to know....good to know none of them hold down jobs, some white collar or more....good to know that the sales guy that may or may not come to your place of employment may or may not be a 1%er...
I was a Maintenance Supervisor on Camp Schwab, Okinawa, Japan for 8 years. Before that I was a Shift Supervisor in the Naval Hospital on Camp Lester for a year and a half. I learned so much and worked with some of the greatest folks ever. I identify with them!!

man what a freaking stereotype....smh
I think you missed my point, but maybe not.
My response was to the "outlaw biker" comment. I know what a 1% is, and I know some. They, too, come from all walks. My comments were directed at others that stereotype ALL who ride in to the "outlaw biker".
If you're looking for an argument...don't. If my comments were offensive. I apologize.
