Well everyone has their own opinion here, mine is that I have them and recently went on a 4500 mile 10 day trip riding 8-11 hours a day. I have done the same with Krushers and I will say hands down they were the most comfortable on the ears, at the end of the day my head wasnt buzzing from the noise.
In the past I would have to leave ear plugs in all the time, but with these I found I could run w/o plugs for long periods and not bother my ears. I still could hear the radio at all speeds, and this was with a FF helmet.

We have the Monster Ovals on our 08. We have ridden about 25,000 miles with them and are able to listen to the radio and talk to each other on the intercom. We are not experiencing the bass throb that is mentioned in this thread.

Yes they do drag if we let the shocks get down a bit, but nothing serious, just surprising.

I like the way they look under the hardbags, fills up the space. I'm not sure I would like them on something that did not have hard bags.

I have noticed that they are getting a bit louder with age. Has anyone had one apart to change the packing out? Do they have packing?

When I was reversing my tips, I noticed the baffle is welded in the muffler, so I doubt you can change anything. Besides if I remember right there is no packing, the outlet pipe is closed and exhaust has to flow around and thru the holes in the side of the baffle.

Default Cost of MO's and packing

Anyone interested in buying the MO's, I have a set of black coming today that I only paid 499 for since they are on closeout, also saw them on ebay for 550 I think with free shipping. Great deal, I'm really excited to get them on along with the PCV, black dresser duals, and black heavy breather.

I did ask the rep about the packing, he said you can remove it but he wouldn't recommend it cause it may make the pipe seem out of tune or tinny sounding. He also said that over time they do get louder as the packing gradually breaks down to an extent. The dresser duals are said to make a few db difference too.

$489 a great deal by any stretch, but mine are black pipes with chrome tips, usually more expensive. Just sayin the deals are out there. Who knows, by next month they be $399 and I'm going to feel ripped off. As for now just excited to get them on and this for snow to melt away.

Mine are suppose to come today, black with chrome tips - I bought them from a guy on this site, and a FuelPak for $600 shipped. I too like the way they fill the space under the bags more than, say, Widow muffs.

Put mine on 8000miles ago, get deeper and more to my liking with each passing mile. I enjoy being able to not wear earplugs to ride comfortably and under overpasses I get to hear what those behind are enjoying!
