I checked the tire pressure before the ride. 40lbs rear 38psi front. I know some guys said to ride with 40 in the front but I never made the switch.
I have the Ohlins rear suspension built for my weight from Motorcycle Metal so there "shouldnt be" a problem with that. Rest of the bike stock.
09 SG with only 3000 miles on it so there hasnt really been a lot of time for things to go wrong with it unless there was a problem from the factory?
I bought those Dyna Beads to put in the tire but never got around to it so I might do that. When i bought it there was damage on one of he rims so they swapped them out for a different style. Maybe someone didnt balance them correctly?
Ok... Im good with this.... I will go through it and let the dealer check it out when I go in for the recall work and the new front tire.
Took my 09 SG over 100mph for the first time today. Ran it between 105 and 110 for about 5 min just for the hell of it.
I was surprised how light it started feeling and how squirrely it got at that speed. Felt like I could easily start to get speed wobbles if I wasnt careful.
I know its a bagger and no i dont normally ride that fast but my Rigid 10ft long chopper handled better at that speed than this does. Just expected it to track a little better and be a little more stable.
I guess its good I dont normally go that fast because I was pretty disappointed with how it handled.
I run her up to 110-120 all the time and never noticed.
I'm in the 90's or up in the low 100's at least a couple of times each month during riding season. She handles pretty darn well, considering the miles, and all the crap I'm usually packing. Plenty of space out here, and I can often find a long stretch with nothing but sunshine to air her out. I think it keeps the carbon from building up! I do it for maintenance purposes, and of course the grin factor.....LoL I will say the Elite 3's, and the Bagger Brace made a pretty big difference to me.
I start getting a little shimmy at 105-110 on straight aways, but 90-95 in curves. It's a bit unsetteling, but not crap your pants scarey, Of course my scoot is 23 years old. I'm thinking of throwing a bagger brace or true track on next off season when I get the stage II head work down. (I asked my mechanic what he was gonna charge me for that head job, and of course all of the hang arounds hooted and hollard for 20 minutes)
if the faring was completely neutral aerodynamically, meaning that it forced 1/2 the air up and 1/2 the air down you would still get a lifting of the front end cause you can't compress the pavement.
that said, this aero analysis is worthless cause 95% of the posts state, "Mine rides fine at 120" (wonder how they measured 120mph) or "You need to check your front end and tire pr".
