I never understood why HD never offered the chrome housings with their CC kits either. I think your best bet would be to find an old kit (new w/ instructions) and buy the lower chromed housings and the lower chrome switch covers separate.
I installed CC on my 07 FLHRS and I bought an FLHRSE parts manual on eBay cheap and provided Zanottis with part numbers for the housings and covers and everything worked out great for me.
I have a friend with a 2001 model like yours that added CC on his just last year. Some dealer has one of the old kits in stock; get a part number for the kit and start searching eBay and other avenues for it.
CC is the best add-on I’ve installed on my bike and I’ll guarantee you it will be worth your while to search for a factory kit.
