Yep! Same here! My stock HD battery took a nap! Just got an Interstate CycleTron from Woodbridge VA Interstate WholeSale Supplier! $86.00 bucks! Can't beat it!
Deka battery is made in USA. Interstate used to be until they sold out to Johnson Controls about 5 years ago. They are now made in Mexico and China. Deka batteries are found everywhere, but not always with the Deka name. NAPA and O'Reilly's batteries are made by Deka. I'm not going to tell anyone what they should buy. It's your dollar. But my money only goes to Deka!
I went with the Big Crank ETX30L. Half the cost, works great
And it has performed flawlessly. $99 shipped to my door, charged and ready to drop in. I went to the dealer first as checked price. He didn't even blink when he said $175. + $40 to put it in. Seriously? $215 to put a battery in? What is going on here?
I replaced my second HD battery with a "Big Crank" (Deka) from Battery Mart one year ago. If it lasts another year it will equal the life of the last battery at half the cost. Comparing the two, the Deka has a translucent bottom while the HD is black. The top and remainder of the battery look the same. It cranks the bike as well, has AGM construction, fits the same, and costs $99 shipped. You might also get another 10% off if you agree to receive promotional emails, if that offer still exists. It's your money.
I bought the Batteries Plus X2-30LA battery for my son's Sea-Doo. It is the battery listed as the HD battery. It has 400 CCA and the ETX30L has 365. So they may be similar, but they can't be the same.
It was $145 in WI, with $10 for old battery trade in. They gave me $10 even though I didn't have a battery to trade.
