I was digging around on HD website and saw that the newest software available for the HK stereo is v8.22.0. After checking my version I have v8.9.0 and was wondering if anybody had/has any issues with the latest update? I don't have any issues with my current version that I know of.
Anybody have v.8.22.0 and have issues or suggest we older version users stick with our current version?
Darren, when I had Iron Cross Audio repair the '09 HK head unit and add an AUX port at the rear of the unit, Tony, the service manager, talked with me about the software upgrades. At that time (3-4 months ago) the latest version was 8.21. He told me he would load 8.19 in my unit (rather than the current ver. 8.21) because 8.19 had been out a while without apparent problems, and the later version 8.20 had been quickly replaced with 8.21 suggesting there were issues with 8.20. 8.21 hasn't been out very long so to replace it with 8.22 suggests 8.21 wasn't all that great either.
I have no idea what these so-called updates do, but if your current software is working, and there is no definitive information on how the later versions are better, I'd leave the software alone.
The guys at ICA are former Harman Kardon techs who serviced and repaired HK units (from HD, BMW, etc.) until HK closed its in-house facilities and out-sourced the functions to a third-party.

Really makes one wonder what they are trying to "fix" with the updates
That's the scary part. I'm an IT guy and I've always been told that unless there is a problem that you have that it supposed to be fixed in the new firmware release just stay where you are.
Unless I'm missing something here, isn't 8.9.0 newer than 8.22?
Unless they are using "new math", isn't 22 later in the list than 9? 8.9.0 is < 8.22.0 hence the "22" part is a newer version that the "9" part. Hell, I have a RK, so WTFDIK anyway?

Why yes I am. We call it "fuzzy math" 'round here.
