Hey all,
I have a 09 SG and was given a Kuryakyn Electronic Deer Alert for Xmas. It only has two wires. I would like to wire it into the Switched Accesory outlet under the seat. (the one with the black plug) It has four connectors in it. What do I need to buy and how do I connect/wire it. I'm not that knowledgeable on electrical stuff. thanks.

A simple way to do what you want is to buy the Switched Circuit Adaptor. The part number is 70264-94A. It plugs into your Accessary connector under the seat and splits it into 2 outlets. Cut the receptical off of one of the outlets and wire your deer chaser to the 2 wires. If your device is not polarity sensitive, just splice the wires and you are done. If it is polarity specific, use a meter if you have one to determine which of the two wires is hot with the ignition and the Accessary switches on. Without a meter, you can trace the wires back through the adaptor and the connector to find which one lines up with the black wire in the bikes connector. That is the ground side.
You'll get the same results if you wire it to the HWOTEAM circuit. (huge waste of time effort and money) They are completely ineffective at alerting anything.

Kind of like radar detectors. Great for letting you know you are about to get pulled over.....
They do not work - if you define working as keeping the deer out from in front of your bike. The only thing that will be reasonably reliable to keep you safe from hitting a deer is to stay alert!!!! (and in some cases, that isn't going to work either.) Never rely on any kind of deer alert or deer whistle to keep you safe. that being said, jimsreddyna did give you a good way to hook up the device.

My dad tried the deer whistles in the early 90s, and he said that they seemed to make the problem worse because they would scare the deer into running into the road!
