What ecm/fuel controller?
Ok im at a crossroads..
Im wantin to get a fuel contriller and im lookin for advice..what is the best one to use? best results? and most bang for the buck?
Its goin on a 05 ultra classic with the stage 1 download,se housing.k&n filter and se mufflers.
I am looking at going true duals, either sampson or vance/hines.
So is the power commander worth playing with? how bout the one from zippers? any feedback is welcome

PCIII does the job extremely well and can be tuned on the fly, on a dyno. It is also the most popular and PROVEN unit available (hands down), with a comprehensive list of downloadable maps. Try takin' mine away from me![>:]
I've ordered a PCIII myself, and it should be coming in on tuesday. Had it preloaded with a map for SE Touring pipes, SE air filter, and stage 1 download. Hopefully will get rid of the decel popping! I've heard alot of good stuff about this product.
You have several options and will get numerous opinions and suggestions. PCIII, SERT, etc. A few mfg's make a simpler/cheaper fuel management system (DFO, VH Fuel Pack, etc.). Research them all, understand the differences. Make an honest assessment whether you will make future engine mods or not. This will influence your decision. There is also a "closed loop" system on the market, I forget the mfg., but it has an oxygen sensor that you drill/tap into your exhaust and it makes real-time adjustements, kind of slick technology.
I have a Zippers ECM, which is a complete replacement ECM, unlike the PCIII (plugs into existing ECM) or the SERT (re-programs existing ECM). It gave me some very nice performance on my otherwise stock TC88 (air cleaner, samson slip ons). Its a very tunable setup, as are the PCIII and SERT. I will do more engine stuff in the future, which is why I wanted a complete tunable system. Good luck.

I went with a DFO/TFI fuel optimzer. It is simple, got rid of my decel pop by just winding the idle pot screw to a richer setting and is half the price of a PC 111, which requires a laptop to tune once installed on the bike.
DFO from Techlusion/Dobeck works great for me as well.......simple and inexpensive way to tune a EFI Harley. No need for dyno tuning a lightly modified V-twin for everyday street riding. There are many HD riders that kept their bikes in great tune over the decades without every going near a dyno machine.

I'd say the PCIII is the most universally used and probably the easiest but the SERT is more programmable as I understand it but it may be coming off the market. Most any good mechanic can tune up the PCIII but you gotta know what you are doing with the SERT. JMHO.
