Default Harman Kardon Radio help.

Was checkin on gettin a Harman Kardon Harley Radio for my FLHT.
I've never had a radio and I been riding since the 60's.
The dealer said I should git the 76412-06 which is the new advanced radio for my bike.
Everybody has the 76160-06 and they are out of site on Ebay.

When I gave the dealer the 76160-06 he said if he sends a 76412-06 in for repairs it comes back as a 76160-06 which would be a repaired radio.

So if that's the case the repaired radios seem to be nearly as high as the new radio with a warranty.

Question is does anybody know very much about the radios.
A marine Radio doesn't hold up in Boats in Texas little on a motorcycle.
And I want to use my handle bar controls to operate the radio and want the MP3 hole so I can plug my GPS unit into it.

Thanks.

Biketronics has an adaptor kit that will allow you to use the handlebar controls with a aftermarket radio. There are several posts on here about it.

Sony has a radio that seems to work well with the Biketronics kit and you can use your Ipod with it and possibly control it from the handlebar controls.

Non of them has held up for over a couple years.

And I do not want to have a cover over the front of the radio to protect it.

76412-06 is the kit which includes the radio, speakers, mounting hardware, etc.

76160-06 is the part number for the radio.

Radio has had the same part number since 2006. There are differences based on the production date, but only as far as internal production changes, no function change.
