Yes sir! It's also my cross country rider... We chose a milder cam (TR590) than what one would use for more of an all out power build. Static CR will be close to a mellow 11:1.
.
im a fan of big motors and milder cams..... I really like the way the 590 ran in my 98incher...threw one in my 120 this past summer. its just a really sweet cam that pulls through the top. I am now re installing it with my T-Man/S&S 124 build. Also putting a similar build together for my cousins 08 Street Glide. (putting his together this week and next) mine hopefully mid February.
as far as 120 vs 124..... not really a preference more of a convenience. cylinders ready to go from S&S. pistons from S&S set up for the stroke and three over sizes for future freshining up.
I typically log 20,000 miles a season on mine, so yeap sure did build this one for traveling... in fact this summer I will be doing a 8000 mile trip over to the West coast on this new motor...no worries....
Lookin good phil. You may be hearing from me again soon. My Hillside build should be on its way back to me sometime next week. Went with the 107", stage 4 heads, bob woods 8 cam, and a matchup on the TB. Good luck with that beast!!

Well said Rob!

As for the questions about "why the switch?".....
No real reason other than it's been 2 years since I built the HQ120, and having done numerous builds of other folks' motors since then... It was just time to do something for myself again. So I decided to make it a little bigger w/o having to change my cases.
For the record: I have NO issues or problems with the guys at HQ or the HQ products. They've been good to me over the past several years and I've built MANY HQ motors. All have "delivered".
Don't try to get me in the middle of someone else's ****'n match ~ it ain't happen'n.
It's amazing how reliable these big motors can be. Here are the pics of Dalton's HQ 120 after 35K miles:
As Dalton said: "I continually hear how higher performance and large displacement engines just don't last, mostly from those that really have no clue and this is one way to dispel the myth. I am going to pickup some gaskets and put it back together as is without touching a thing, all is good and with the amount of wear I am seeing, there is not a reason to believe that this engine will not last a long, long time."
Looking forward to following your build, Phil, so keep the pics and information coming.

Phil - hurry up and get it put together, I bet you are excited. I can't wait for my build to be done. I'm hoping the end of next week, probably 2 more weeks though (the way things been going).
