Default Project 124

Well, it's finally time for me to start putting my motor back together…. Late Christmas for ME!

Wednesday, BIG Brown showed up with these…

Big box had this inside… TMan set my cases up for "Project 124". Darkhorse crank was disassembled, rebalanced for new setup, reassembled, plugged, & welded. Runout is .001- Everything is sealed up & ready to go!

Here's the modified center case bolt that goes between the jugs at the base

Here's where the bolt goes thru & why it had to be modified. See the "U shaped" notch at the 12:00 o'clock position, in the spigot bore? Look closely and you can see the thin part of that bolt.

Here it is with one cylinder slid into place. you can see the liner of the 4.125" bore cylinder gets into where the bolt is. I just wanted to have a look at the clearance of each cylinder, with regard to the machined center bolt. All is A-OK (as I suspected)

Speaking of Jugs… Here's one of my new S&S 4.125" cylinders. I think it's purty!

and with to on top, I start feeling better...

…and here's an S&S piston for that jug. Sure looks like a Wiseco. I love having the coated skirts on forged pistons. Most forged pistons do not have this.

Here's the 4.125" piston next to a S/E 3.875" piston (NO, that is not off my bike!). The S/E piston makes an 88" a 95 or a 96" a 103. Not a huge difference in bore, but add some stroke and ya get a BIG MF'er. 88/95 is 4" stroke, 96/103 is 4.375" stroke and a 124" is 4.675" stroke, with 4.125" bore.

Oh yea… much of the magic for Project 124 comes from the TMan Stage 4 heads. Emersome BIGazz chambers & intake valves!

To feed the beast, is a TMan/HPI Pro 58mm TB that transitions into 62mm intake with 1.800" intake ports with precision.

Can ay tell any difference when compared to the stock TB from my 05 RG?

Say "Ahhhhhhhh"…….. Dr. says "All is well!"

Here's a comparison of the 1.800 intake manifold ports/flanges to the standard 1.667 ports/flanges. In either case, it's critical for the intake ports/flanges to match the intake ports of the heads they are used with.

Looks like my buddy's gett'n tired, so nothing more than looking at things tonight. Hopefully, this weekend I'll be able to start getting some stuff done… mock fit everything, double / triple check clearances & fits, clean the crap out'a everything, then slowly & methodically begin assembly. I'll do my best to take more pics along the way, but it's easy to forget the camera when I'm really into things with the build.

those parts sure are purdy phil. i know it will be hard to temper your tempo during the build in anticipation of hitting the starter button. i should be collecting a few t-man parts in the near future, albeit in smaller cubes...lol look forward to the updates.

Great Pics. I'd really like to do a project like that someday. Take lots more pics during the build!
