i have one of the sandisk sansa clip 8gb players haven't used it hooked to my bike yet .what is the sound quality and volume like when you play it through your hk radio on the bike?
The sound quality will depend on the quality you save the MP3's.
I usually save them @ 256 kbps. It's important to try to keep
them at the same kbps, or some songs will sound better than others.
Also I use "MP3 Gain" to equalize the volume between all songs. That way you're not always reaching for the volume button.

A lot of good advice here. I was leaning toward buying one that uses a AAA battery,
because I did not know how to charge with a usb cable as we never travel with a
laptop. While looking at a 4GB Sony this afternoon a guy told me that you can buy a
wall charger that hooks up with the usb cable. This opened up a lot more possibilities.
Also the wife said quit trying to be so cheap and buy a decent one. I am also researching
mounting options.
On my Ultra, I went on Ebay and purchased a used Sony six CD changer for the tour pac. It also plays MP3 format as well. It plays directly through the radio if I tune it to 89.1 and the control is in leather compartment mounted ontop of the inner fairing. Total cost about a year ago was $15.
Downside......
Takes up a little room in the tourpac.
Rarely skips.....but it can skip at times.
Upside.....
Inexpensive and easy to find.
Plays through OEM Harley radio.
As someone mentioned already, keep an eye on Woot for the Sansa MP3 players, i've used on in a windshield pouch for quite sometime, and i haven't had a single issue with it.
The Sony walkman is a great little player. It doesn't need proprietary software like the apples and the zunes. Just connect to your computer and drag and drop tunes to the sony and you're ready to go.

I just place mine in my windshield bag.I use a Sanyo Scandisk unit and it holds 1,000 songs on a preloaded stick, and 1,000 songs on the internal memeory. Went to Florida from Pa this fall and never hearde the same song twice...love it. Volume even works on the handle bars
