I am getting ready to do a big bore upgrade on my 2003 HD electra glide and I would like to move up to a 42mm carburator - All of the carbs I have found state that they are not compatable with cruise control. Does anyone know of a carb that will work or a trick of the trade that I could use?
I used the SE 44mm CV (27007-00) and swapped to a 45mm Mikuni (28040-02 plus cruise adapter 3042-0004) for a 95" on my '03 RK. Both worked well with cruise. Bigger than what you want but a couple of examples.
The reason they all say that they are not compatible with the Cruise Control is because the cruise requires a separate mount on the butterfly lever to connect the cable. Some after market carburetor manufacturers sell an adapter kit to make it compatible with Cruise Control.
If yours has the cruise, look at where the cruise cable connects and you will see the connection point for the cable. it bolts to the Butterfly shaft and has a cable holder mounted to the top of the carburetor.
