Smoking is a nasty habit. Put some Nicorette in the gas tank.
Not sure why this is in the BS section, but seriously........
as stated, it is probably guides or seals. Could even be a sticking umbrella valve.
Check plugs to narrow it down to which cylinder it's coming from.

If I were a bettin' man, which I aint, I'd put my .02 with the 'majority' here, valve seals.
And I'd also bet, if you pulled the plugs, you'd know which one it was, or if it's both. (Unlikely both)
Depending on the 'customer', can just replace seals.
Or at 21,000, decarbon, maybe even touch up the valves and seats, check guides while had it apart. Also gives you a chance to look inside the 'holes'. BUT, that depends on the 'customer'. Read that, how much can they, or will they, spend.
BUT nothing wrong with just seals, either. Specially if ALL else, is running good.
Trust me, in 'the$e' times, I'm cutting corners, too, BIG TIME.
