Just a thought... keep the stock headlight. Instead spend your money on a set of motolights https://www.motolight.com/ . I've had my set for 3 years and have used them on 4 different bikes (pracitcally, universal fitment means no waste of money when you get a new bike....) Let's be honest.... like the next guy I swear on my life I'll never sell my bikes but somehow damnit, I've managed to own 10 different bikes in teh past 14 years... just my $.02. If they're good enough for law enforment, they're good enough for me...

Check with Howard at Motorcycle Metal. That's my RG with the photo's and movies on the RG install on his web site.

The HID's are great all around. The only place a halogen might have an advantage might be in the rain at night. It's a very small advantge though. The HID's light up signs way better and further away. Cagers also see you better at night.

If your talking a bout a modulator that flashes the headlights betweem hi/low or messes with the power going to it.... then no, the HID's will not be good. They have to power up. The bulb moves forward and back to go from hi to low. Not unlike the 2 filments on a normal bulb.

Check out Howards site and look for the movies on my RG install. I too one through a welders glass so you can see the movement on the bulb.

Talk to him. He's forgotten more than I could know about them. When you call his number, your getting him, not some answering service or secertary. Awsome customer service.

Give him a call with your questions. Won't cost you a dime.

That's a great link, thanks. Hadn't come across them before. Now a pair of them plus an HID headlight....

It is great as a daytime light because the low beam is very wide, but don't buy it if you drive at night in the dark.

HDF sponsor Motorcycle Metal does a conversion kit. If I change I will buy a high quality reflector and a kit.
I agree. The HD kit is a pretty much a POS. Not only has my parts guy at the dealership sold me the model for a EG when I'm putting mine on a RK, I have had to alter mine to get some beam adjustment.

The hi beam is an H8 it points such a tight pencil beam so far ahead you can not tell that its doing anything unless your out in the boonies so far that the city lights and street lights don't exist. Then the beam is a mile out a head of you.

I'd recommend a projector or keep the H4 lamp assy (stock) and get a HID Hi/Lo to convert that.
