Default 08 seat on 2010

I purchased an 08 seat for a road king standard (Sundowner Style) to install on my 2010 RKC, I was informed that the 08 gave more versatility to modification than the newer versions. My plans were to have the 08 seat reworked by Allen at MCC. If his work is as good as his customer service I know I will be happy, as he has gone above and beyond to help me. My problem is that the seat fits but the slot is to far forward for the adjustable backrest kit (52596-09A) by about an inch. The holes on the kit are fixed so I do not think there is any adjustment. Has anyone else experienced this or worked around it?

Thanks

Eric

I think it is because the frame is slightly longer. I am looking into a simlar situation but want an 09 or 10 Corbin Gambler seat for my 08. From what I gathered it will fit but will have a gap between the nose of the seat and the console. I know this the opposite of what you are doing but I think with the frame stretched a little further back that is why the backrest mounts will not line up.

It will not line up. I tried the same thing for my '07 RK to '10 SG. The frame is different.

I think it boils down to the following, the seat will fit 08-10, the backrest will fit 09-10. The problem will be if I keep the adjustable backrest, any seat that fits through 08-10 will not work with the backrest.

That's good to know if you want to still use HD backrest. Does the '08 seat fit your '10 good otherwise at tank/console area etc?

the seat fits very good, extends over the console and the tab lines up with the fender screw, comfortable seat and would have been perfect. luckily only have $115.00 invested in it as it was a new take off from Ebay. Looks like it will be going back on Ebay.
