Default Shock options

Planning on replacing the stock shocks on my 81 FLT and looking for options. Would replacing with air shocks off a newer FLT/FLH work? Considering buying a pair of take offs from someone that has replaced to lower their bike. Looks like they can be picked up for around $100. Will these bolt on? Anyone done this?

I think they will fit. Around 2008 Harley went to a higherair pressure design, so for closest comparison with yours go for a slightly earlier set.
