I had a Mustang Regal touring seat w/ HD Rider Backrest. I kept the HD Rider Backrest when I sold the 09 EGC. Had to let the Mustang seat go with the bike because I sold the HD seat when I put the Mustang on. I now use the HD Rider backrest on my 08 UC. I don't try to squeeze both shaft's that fit into the bracket to remove mine. I go down in the seat slot on one side and push that shaft towards the middle, then I push the pad part away from me and it pops right out. I can't comment on the Mustang Rider Backrest, never owned one, but I would not be without my HD Rider Backrest. That with the Kuryakyn Hwy pegs makes for a comfortable ride.

I've got a 1 piece Mustang seat and a stock Harley adjustable backrest. They work together on my 98 Road King. I had to bend the Harley backrest to get it to be halfway comfy though.

I use the Mustang 1pc. Ultra style touring seat on my 2000 RG with no problems.

I liked the solo Mustang seat with a backrest on my RKC a lot.

IF it's the adjustable with the little lever that you pull to move it back and forward, what you do is reach your fingers down the little slot that the backrest comes out of in the seat, at the back of the back rest, you will find a little lever, it is spring steel just push it towards the back of the seat and the rest will come out.
