I hear about the progressives, not cheap. Any less expensive route?
As alluded to in the other posts, you may save money in the long run by going with better shocks first. With the less expensive route, you'll get what you pay for, and then they will fail. I chucked the junk stockers on my 09RK pretty quick. While not as top shelf as Ohlins, the Progressive 440s I went with work pretty well. The simple proof is to ride the same road that bounced you around on the stockers and notice the difference.
Speaking of bouncing ... I was going a little too aggressive on some wet curves yesterday, hit some mud left behind by dump trucks from a nearby construction site, and almost went down after the bike did a wild wiggle on me. I know what it's like to go down, and I was almost there again. Slowed way the hell down after that. Yikes!
Cheapest fix: Used 13" EG shocks on Ebay, about $50.
I am going after the cheapest fix myself. I have been keeping an eye on eBay for the right set to pop up. I'm 6'3" so I figure getting a little more height in the rear will not be a bad thing.
