I have a 06 Ultra Classic, Which is Black. I hate them Damm Bugs every ride all over my Batwing. I am going to try a Fairing Bra. Just wondered if anyone has had any negative issues with them?
I've been trying to come up with a way to keep bugs off my bikes for over 30 years. I've never seen a bra for a fairing but it would make good sense if, like someone else said, it didn't scratch the paint. Nicks and scratches seem to be something that is inevitable. I've already got a little nick on my left lower and a very tiny scratch on my fairing. I've got the touchup paint for the black cherry as well as the black pearl. Anyway, such is life. If you hear of a bra, post the info.
The back of the bra is very soft. Course you don't install on a dirty bike. The fairing needs to be clean and a good wax before installing. Every once in a while remove the bra, clean the fairing and bra, wax the fairing and reinstall the bra.
I've considered getting one but my biggest fear is the the fit. If it's too loose, it will flap and rub the paint right off. I've seen it happen to too many cars and would hate to have it happen to my bike. Input from anyone with a bra?
I have installed mine already, Havent ridden yet though. But , With a light coat of Armour all or something like that, The Bugs should wipe right off. I have waxed my fairing probably 7 times in 4K miles. The back of the bra is a soft white fleece type material. So I hope it will not leave scuff marks. But If it leaves small ones, A Rub out job should take care of that. The lesser of two evils maybe. Mine fits pretty tight, except for the middle of the batwing, just behind the Headlight on each side.
My main concern is water/Debris getting behind the Bra, I am going to take some clay type sealer and make a bead (Small) just under the Bra/Chrome Windshield strip. I will post later after riding a few thousand miles, and several washings. After I take the Bra off for inspection.
The Bra is made just like the saddle Bag Lid protectors. I will get them later to match, if the Bra works out ok. And Might even get the Tour Pak Protector. On a Vivid Black Bike!
