I have the Tom Tom unit for xmas. I mounted it last month on my road king and it looks good. When I fire the bike up it comes on by it's self. I wired it to the marker lights. It seems to be a good system. It runs wireless sound to the helmet. I tried it out and at highway speeds, you won't hear with a 1/2 helment on the high way. Otherwise, I like it and it seems to be a good one.
I currently use and old TomTom one XL with
a ram mount, I WOULD NEVER use a suction
cup! I have a freind who used to do that until
his GPS committed suicide off of his bike, suffice
it to say HE WILL NOT use a suction cup anymore
either. He liked the ram mount after that.
I had a Magellan and got a mount from ebay that worked pretty good. Mgellan wasnt recomended for use on motorcycles because it wasnt waterproof. Didnt matter, It worked very well untill I dropped it in a parking lot. Bye Bye Magellan. Now have a Tom Tom 1, there again not recomended for motorcycle use because it isnt waterproof. Im gonna look for a mount for it anyways and this time be a little more careful. Looking at ram mounts as well this time around.
Go to www.mountguys.com. They will have a Ram Mount for pretty much any GPS or cell phone. I have a cheap Tom Tom on my Ultra; works great. I also have a Blackberry mount on the right side; got that from the same place.
