I just bought the HF Wheel Stand/Chock, http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=97841, I want to bolt this to the HF 1200lb table. I just tried putting my '05 Ultra (Michelin Commander tires) in this thing on the ground and it works, but seems very tight on the front tire. I'm not sure if I like how tight that it squeezes the tire. The front stop is fine but the "cradle" is a bit slimmer and really dimples the tire. Needless to say, I took it oit of the chock and came straight here to see what you guys thought. Hindsight being 20/20, I should have taken pictures.
I would like to know how your tire fits in this chock.
Take some pictures, I was thinking of buying two of them to put in my toy hauler. You are the first to say anything negitive about it that I have seen. Of course in my case holding the wheel tight is a good thing but just how tight.
Since I don't have the chock bolted down, I need help to get the bike in & out of it. I don't want to bolt it to my floor, I want to bolt it to my HF table lift, but wanted to try it before hand. I will see if I can get someone over her tomorrow to help get it back in the chock so I can take some pictures. I have no issues with the quality of the chock, but I think the "rocker" part could be about 1/4" wider.
if you have a rubber mat, put the chock on it and it won't slide. I have one like that that I made. Very heavy duty. Can bolt it in the trailer if need be. I don't think the bike would move even if I didn't strap it down. They work good.
SHRINK
i have the same one and installed on my lift what i did was moved the cradle back 1/2 inch drilled new holes i would go out to garage and take some pics for you but i working a project car for a guy and lift is up in corner with all his stuff on it if i do get a chance to clean off i will take pics to day
thanks gabe
Thanks Gabe! My "problem" is not the distance between the fixed upright & the "rocker". It's the width of the rocker itself. If I had a Sporty or Dyna with a skinny front tire, it would be fine. I'm just nervous about how tight it squeezes the side of my front tire. The sound the rubbing rubber squeeking just doesn't sound right. I think I need to cut it down the middle and add about 1/2" of material.
Just a thought, have you checked your tire pressure? Another thing to try is flipping the "cradle" over see if it any different.
BTW, Which hole do you have the front stop in, I use the third or fourth hole. I tried it set at the maximum length and had to remove the cradle to get the bike out.
