Default Biketronics problem with 03 radiosound radio

Trying to help a friend that bought the 75w amp and 6.5 speakers from biketronics. This is on a 2003 ultra with the factory radio sound head unit.
His problem is- there is a pop every time the ignition switch is turned off and on. He blew a fuse after a 50 mile ride. Then, after it blew the first fuse, every time it would blow the fuse as soon as he would try to replace it. He called BT, they said bad amp send in for exchange. He got the new amp and same thing. They told him the radio was bad. He removed the replacement amp and still has a little pop through speakers. He called radiosound to send in for repair, they said the problem was with the speakers need to be 8ohms. He called BT back, they said that is not the problem when their amp is used, and how it is connected. BT said this tmie it was the ignition switch. The last person he talked to at BT said that pop noise (surge) would not hurt their amp. The first amp only lasted for 50 miles

He has been told, bad radio, bad ignition switch, not the correct speaker 8ohms.

If it didnt do it before and it did it when he hooked the amp and speakers up I would say it got everything to do with the amp and speakers and noting to do with the radio or switch

Default radiosound says it's the speakers not BT

Jday53, I may have not made it clear, BT said it was his radio. He called radiosound to send his radio in for repair. Then radiosound told him it was his speakers. Radiosound said he needs 8ohms, and the BT speakers are 4ohms. BT said it does not matter the way the amp is hooked up, the radio does not see the ohms.

Jday53, that makes sense.

Could it be the ignition switch causing the pop niose-surge?
Leaving the radio on, and turning the ignition switch off and on will cause the pop.
If he turns the power off on the radio, before tunring the ignition switch off and on, it does not make the pop noise.
It only makes one pop noise (surge) when he turns the ignition switch on or off, when the radio is left on.

Make sure all the plugs for the amp are in correct /also if bike is on battery tender or charger you will get this sound . Had a humming sound in my BT system, but hooking radio direct to battery solved problem.

I'd double-check your buddy's installation. He apparently has little knowledge of what he's doing, so there's a good chance he didn't install the amp wiring correctly. As said previously, the BT speakers are matched to the amp; not the head unit.

BT makes excellent products; more than likely the problem is the installation.

Check to see where he has the turn on wire for the amp. hooked to. It must be on a 12v source switched by the ignition. Sounds like amp is turned on before the radio.

Ok, maybe yall will check this thread out again.

I talked to him last night. I misunderstood him. It ONLY makes the pop noise when the ignition switch is turned OFF. It does not make a pop noise when turning on the ignition switch.
He has talked to BT tech's, and is sure everything is wired correctly.

What does this sound like it could be? Bad radio, or faulty ignition switch?
He has thrown away the stock speakers. So, no going back now to see if the problem was there with the stock setup.
